My local library in Old Saybrook, CT has a contest each May to design a bookmark for their summer reading program. Guess who won in 2025?
The library’s idea for 2025 was gamifying reading and the slogan was “Level Up at your local library” which is a reference to video games. They also required that the artwork be done by hand- no computer generated images allowed.
Here was my entry:
I was deeply appreciative that they allowed me the month of December 2024 to show my colored pencil work. So I chose the same medium to depict one of my favorite subjects, seagulls. Also love to read, and after years of using a Kindle, I enjoy taking physical books out at the library. And RETURNING them also, so they don’t clutter up and gather dust around the house!
