I’m a fan of decorative fused glass objects for the home. So much so, that I invested in a kiln and all the related supplies. But it brought me no joy, scared me in fact, I worried, “What if it sets the garage on fire”? I’m also not someone who should be handling fragile glass objects being ‘a bull in a china shop’ type person.

So it was a mistake, but in a round-a-bout way it would lead me to buy this book I saw at Michaels one day. It was called Florals By Hand: How to Draw and Design Modern Floral Projects. Shout out to Alli Koch who wrote it.
I thought it would help with my glass design process.
But it got me back into my first artistic love: Drawing. Enter colored pencils.

Having never worked in colored pencil before, I visited my local library and checked out what would be the first of many books by Bet Borgeson.
My husband Martin bought me a large set of Prismacolor Pencils for my birthday that January, so I used them in a drawing of him and his girlfriend Mojo for Valentine’s Day.
I ended up buying a copy of all Bet’s books off Amazon and spent many hours with them, doing the tutorials and being mentored by her in abstentia.
